    An SEO company projects a more trusting image than an SEO specialist because a company takes effort to establish and has capital not to mention a team of worker while an individual SEO worker is simply one person that when he hits a wall may not have the knowledge to resolve the problem. But an SEO company will certainly be expensive than a mere freelancer so it may depend on the budget that you allocate for that kind of work.

    Well the thing is with an SEO company is rather than little gigs here and there, they usually offer the whole shebang and might be under contract to do an excellent job. Plus a decent sized company has more to lose and usually consists of more than just one guy in his bedroom!

    Check feedback rating if possible, and ask for samples of past work to insure that they're style of work is in line with what you expect.

    First of all check the website of the SEO company. If the website appears on the top result, hire them, if they don't appear on the front page, just pass them. An SEO company that cannot rank their own website will never be able to rank your website #1 on Google.
    You should also check testimonials. Not on the company website, but elsewhere.

    Hiring an SEO company is not easy because you have to be sure that the company can deliver on your required work. My suggestion is for you to check the background of the company and also the past clients. Check the website of their past clients and you will see the ranking that it has. At least you will have an idea if the SEO company is effective in their SEO work for their clients.
