    All Xfinity households are hotstpots for other Xfinity members

    I was actually pretty blown away by this when my friend came over to my house and logged into his tablet using my xfinity connection. I knew he didn't know my wifi password because he's never needed it because he always used his phone. But when he was on his tablet I asked him if he turned his phone into a hotspot and he said "Nope, I'm using your internet but I hacked it!!!!"

    Now I didn't really care if he actually hacked it because he was my friend lol. But I needed to know how he did this, because I wanted to do it also muahahahaha!!!

    He began to tell me that if you are a subscriber to xfinity you can use any other xfinity members connection as a hotspot because they partition a section off so that random people can use this feature when they aren't at their own house. I thought this was insane lol.

    And this isn't some crazy difficult thing either, it's rather simple to connect. Have you ever been out and seen the connection labeled "Xfinity" or (Xfinity-SomeNumbersHere) connections? That's it! If you click on that and add your xfinity login info you can use that persons house as if it were a hotspot lol All Xfinity households are hotstpots for other Xfinity members

    You don't even have to know the people. You can literally be at a park in the middle of a bunch of houses and connect to someones wifi by using this method. Granted it has to be close enough to be able to connect, but it's still pretty cool All Xfinity households are hotstpots for other Xfinity members

    This sounds very cool, but should be an option to disable that crazy thing. We have some mobile companies here which are doing the same thing, you simply need to send a message to a given number then you'll receive the password of that wifi, passwords are generated everytime when you try to connect to that wifi. This is great but those wifi are available only in some areas, maybe i should purchase a wifi antenna with long range, then i can use it from my home without being there. lol

    lol I actually had an antenna like that and it was directional meaning wherever I aimed it I could reach up to .5 miles All Xfinity households are hotstpots for other Xfinity members Sadly though, I got rid of it because I didn't need to use it anymore All Xfinity households are hotstpots for other Xfinity members I wish I kept it lol.

    I don't like this at all. Wouldn't this slow down the connection, or even slow down your own internet speeds? I have Xfinity as well, and I do use the Xfinity hotspot quite often, especially when my internet goes out.

    There is only 1 which is odd because you state that all Xfinity households are Xfinity hotspots, however since I live in a neighborhood which contains a lot of housing, and since Xfinity has a monopoly in the area you'd think there would be more hotspots to choose from? Believe it or not I can actually connect to this specific hotspot from .25 miles down the street. The person who owns that hotspot must have a pretty great router, huh?

    If someone was connected to you I would think it could slow down your connection a bit. I've never actually used this hotspot trick because I didn't know about it until my friend showed me All Xfinity households are hotstpots for other Xfinity members I probably would have known about it earlier but my girlfriend pays for our internet/TV lol All Xfinity households are hotstpots for other Xfinity members

    Razzy I can see how I would love to be an Xfinity member and get access to internet wherever I am by connecting to Xfinity members internet. That said I can see how I would like this to be a one way "friendship" only.

    I would love to be able to connect to other people's internet but I don't want just anyone to be able to connect to mine.

    When friends and family come to my house I am more than happy to give them my password so they can connect. However I have a big problem with a stranger that is outside my home connecting to my internet.

    Well if you have xfinity then anyone else who is paying a monthly fee will be able to connect to your home connection if they wanted. I don't think there's any way of closing this off or stopping it All Xfinity households are hotstpots for other Xfinity members

    Is Xfinity an internet service provider? If yes, how is that even legal? You're basically using his own IP address right? So what exactly is stopping people from doing illegal stuff online from your IP?

    Yeah, Xfinity is owned by Comcast and they're pretty huge in the United States. I'm not sure how this is exactly legal, but they do it lol. It's probably because it's a community type thing and it can be tracked pretty easily to know who's accessing what points.

    I think nobody will try to do illegal things since they need to login with their Xfinity account, but even if they will do they can be easily tracked.
