Social media is a big thing, I know with all big things that there comes people with similar interest. Recently I've took the time to notice how my nephew uses the sneaker groups he is in on Facebook to buy sell and trade his name brand shoes. He's using it on a small scale compared to what I would use it for, I can say personally I do see potential
in making my own group whether it's to get people more aware or just more connected point is it can bring potential clients, do you think I'm on to something here or could I just be doing a little much?

You might start off small at first but there are many ways in which you can grow, advertise and promote your group and attract and gain new members/users for it. You could even buy some groups members for it and the numbers work for you then. When people see it has a lot of members, they will want to join it naturally because the more people they see in that group, the more potential there is to reach more people when they post something to it. You could lock it down so that other peoples posts are moderated first. And you could do it so that nobody else's posts are approved only yours. But I wouldn't recommend doing that as people will cotton on to it and not post there any more and probably leave that group. You should post to it yourself as yourself, but also post to it as other people and too. But you should let other people post to it too as that's what groups are for.
I have a couple groups and they started off small at first. Mainly YouTube groups, but I am getting about 100 new member join requests a day now and at this rate, if this keeps up, I will have about 50k members before the end of the year is out and that can be quite potent. By then I'll get much more response for my own videos and my clients that I post to it and may even be able to flip it for a pretty penny.
So don't even think twice and don't even hesitate for a moment and create your group and start building it up. As the owner of it you'll be able to "pin" your own posts to the top and that can get it seen guaranteed by everyone that uses that group.
