    Are you a Nomophobe? Can you live without your mobile?

    There's a growing rise of Nomophobe's and Nomophobe's are people who have extreme fear or anxiety and even have panic attacks if they think they'll be without their mobile!

    According to Wikipedia

    Nomophobia is a proposed name for the phobia (intense, irrational fear) of being out of mobile phone contact. It is, however, arguable that the word "phobia" is misused and that in the majority of cases it is another form of anxiety disorder.
    It's not just the fear of being out of contract though and not being able to make a call because of that. It's the fear of being out and about without their mobile phone. Some people take this so seriously that they can't even leave their home without their phone. Some people so much so that they cannot leave their home unless their phone is charged to at least 75% before they go out, go to work or whatever for the day.

    If we're to believe what they say then according to a recent study, up to 73% of the 40 million Brits who own and use smartphones regularly, get "serious anxiety" when they’re away from their devices and are serious "nomophobic's".

    Is this you? Are you a Nomophobe? Do you get "serious anxiety" or even have a panic attack if you're away from your mobile device for too long?

    When was the last time you left your house with your mobile?

    I definitely do not get anxious or all crazy if I do not have my phone while I am out or when I leave my house. I have my phone on me most of the time though as I do work from it when i need to. Last time I left my house with my mobile phone was just a little bit ago, my second oldest daughter had teeball this morning! I had it to take pictures though, not to work. I absolutely do not classify myself as a nomophobe!

    Tee-ball is like baseball for kids under 6yrs old. They place the ball on a tee (kind of like a golf tee but way bigger so you can hit it with a baseball bat) They runs bases and field just like baseball but there is no pitching. Just hitting from the tee.

    Yes sometimes I use my phone to take photos when I am with my kids too, and that is usually the only time I use my phone when I am with my kids unless I am making a phone call which is not often.

    LOL I am so far from being a Nomophobe that I am probably the other way.

    I have started to hate my phone and part of this is that people expect you to be available all the time. I really get irritated when someone asks me "Why didn't you answer your phone?"

    Well why should I? A phone is not there so that people have a right to be able to contact me all the time wherever I am and then get annoyed with me when I don't answer.

    Then I also get annoyed with other people. I have been brought up in a certain way. When supper is served there are no phones, laptops, toys, books... or anything allowed on the table. We sit as a family, with our food and we interact in a nice healthy way.

    When I am out places I just see half the people I see staring at their phones all the time. I see 4 people out to dinner all with their phones out in silence. What on earth is going on?

    I always take my phone with me when I am out driving in case I have a breakdown. If my hubby and I go out together we only take one of our phones with us.

    Yeah I know what you mean. And the thing is, we're not evolved to be like that. To be constantly looking down at your mobile phone while you walk down the road and to do the same when you're sitting at a dinner table either at home or at a restaurant is just plain rude! They used to say that the TV was a conversation killer. But these days it's our smartphones that are conversation killers! Most people would rather be staring into their screen and refreshing Facebook or counting how many Pokemon that have caught than have an actual eye-to-eye conversation! And yes I agree too about not picking up right away. Having a mobile phone doesn't mean you have to answer it on every call you get. That's what the pick up button is for. So you can choose not to pick it up! Are you a Nomophobe? Can you live without your mobile?

    Mike I saw someone a while back looking at his phone while walking along the road and he walked straight into a pole. I'm sure he really hurt himself but it was very amusing.

    Exactly and that is what I do love about my mobile phone.. caller ID. If I don't pick up there is a reason and it might just be because I can see who is calling LOL.

    Well.. my phone and my wallet are always with me, and to be honest I can’t remember the last time when I forgot my phone in home, but that doesn’t mean I am a nomophobe. I can stay without my phone all day long, but it’s not possible because of things what I do, it’s hard to do things without a mobile phone nowadays. Everything has its “positive” and “negative” side, but phone for me it’s something very important and necessary thing.

    I ALWAYS take my mobile with me, unless it is a quick visit to a pharmacy which is 2 minutes away from my house. Other than that, even if I go to the grocery store, which is about 7 minutes away, I want it with me. So it is basically how far I am from home, thus it makes me realize that my mobile sort of gives me a sense of security. So to a certain extent I guess that I can be classified as a nomophobe I guess. Wonder how it came to this when we used to live without a mobile up to 20 years ago! It is frightening how technology advances right?

    Wow. Nomophobe is a real thing and people out there are suffering from this? Now that I think about it, I don't really get panic attacks but I do get a feeling like "something missing" and "something is definitely not right" when I don't have my mobile phone around me.

    But that happens only when I don't have a direct activity and I'm bored. I've found that you can have fun without a mobile phone around. And it's very healthy to just disconnect every once in a while.

    This is a new term to me and I guess it will become popular in the days to come because so many will fall under this description. Just in my circle I can already count on my fingers the nomophobes who couldn’t survive without their phones. Once I left my phone at home. When my husband called my landline phone in the office to ask if I wanted him to bring my phone, I said it is all right if I have no phone for the day. That goes to show that I am not nomophobic.

    Considering that I'm an online freelancer, I need my smartphone and phablet to do my work. If I don't have these devices then I can't do my work in certain places, I have to access it via PC which is boring.
