    World’s First 60TB SAS SSD Created by Seagate!

    Some of you may have heard about a 15TB SSD which was launched by Samsung on march this year,with a price of $10K, and currently it is the largest SSD capacity available , but as it seems not for a long time .. because Seagate has created an SSD which is four times bigger than the capacity of Samsung’s SSD (PM1633a) and will be launched next year. However, those SSDs will be available only for data centres and big businesses. Also the price it’s not revealed yet, but if Samsung is selling 15TB for $10k .. then 60TB would cost around $40K or more…

    Man, why couldn't they have made this back in 2003!? Right when I was big into downloading music, movies and games! I would have saved a fortune in DVD's and CD spindles! I used to have 4x 80GB HDD's. Two Maxtor's and two Kingston's and they got full up quicker than a water bucket during rainy season! Hence the fortune I'd spend on burning stuff to CD's and DVD's! Right now though this looks like just a concept drive like it says ideal for large storage arrays, archives etc and more for big businesses in that industry. But like most things hardware and technical, they are eventually rolled out to the general public as well. So I would imagine in the next 2-3 years these become available to buy on the general consumer market. And they would probably get bigger as well. Well let's face it, in another 10-20 years there will be SSD's that are probably 60,000 TB's in size STANDARD! But by then, nobody will really be downloading anything? Because everyone will be streaming stuff on super fast fibre optic broadband and Li-Fi connections anyway! Maybe. Definitely maybe. Probably. Likely.

    This shows once again that technology will evolve. A few years ago I remember that future computers will have limited space because HDD are physically limited. Nobody thought SSDs will ever take off like they did in the last few years. They were seen as very expensive and very limited as a storage technology.

    Fast Forward to this moment and we're talking about 60TB...jesus!

    Oh wow that is massive! Yeah it will be interesting to see what the price is for sure.

    It is amazing how fast technology is flying along at such a pace. Imagine what will come next?

    Teleporters! Well I think so anyway. I mean think about it logically. First there was the telephone. Then there was the television. It only seems right that one day there will be a teleporter too? It sounds all very "Star Trek" right now but people used to laugh when at such ideas as these and now look, people can't live without them!

    I know right! I guess you would need two devices. First the one you're teleporting from and the second the one you're teleporting too. Not rather unlike the pads you have to stand on in Star Trek. But they can beam them wherever you want and that's only in the movies. And of course it would mean dissimulating and discombobulating you into a digital version so you could be sent down through the wire or across the air using radio waves and then reconfigure or reanimated at the other end. But what if there's a power cut half way through? That wouldn't be fun LOL
