Have you used Facebook fundraiser to raise money for a worthy cause?

Just noticed a feature at the bottom of my Facebook menu (left hand column of home page) where you can start a fundraiser for a good cause. Just wondering if you have started a fund-raiser for anything in your local community or if something like this could also be used for other purposes such as a kickstarter for a business. Some fundraising sites allow for campaigns for needy families and such, possibly this is similar. Check it out and let me know what you think or if you would use it or for what.

yea id have to agree with everett i am skeptical of all the scammers there has to be some form or some type of fee that has to be placed. also i have never seen a face book fundraiser so i would not know how to use the function on the other hand, i would to get a hands on one on one experience too see what it is about but in all honesty i do not think i would take to face book to create or take part in a fundraiser ill let the social network just be a social network

Yes, and because of those scammers, or people just wanting to earn a quick buck is the reason why I don't participate in fundraising. If you go to GoFundMe, and browse the campaigns you will see a lot of scam fundraisers. My favorite is when people spend all their money, and then ask people to donate to them so they can get their money back.

This was an apparent comedic campaign, and the creator of the campaign said that it was a joke. However, it's not a joke when people are donating because they actually want to help you get back on your feet. You should read the article, it'll probably make you mad as it did for me.

Oh that is cool, I never noticed that... but I do have to agree with what is being said here. Scammers are all over and this would be a wonderful way for them to scam more!

Plus when things are done like like through a business then they take a huge cut. How much will the charity see?

I have not used the Facebook to raise funds, but I have seen people that have used Facebook to raise funds for a good cause which involved raising funds to help treat someone in the hospital and all that. However, one needs to be careful on this to ensure they are not scammed by some fraudsters looking to ways to make money on the internet.

I have never created a fundraiser on Facebook. However, I once tried to donate to a fundraiser but then I realized that donation from my location is not available. I think sent my donation personally through paypal.
