Hi hotcontent thaks for your question and sharing your experience. I have been working as outsource contractor more than 7 years and on SEOclerks almost 5 years and according to my experience, I never think anything instead of freelancing or outsourcing. Because, there has many difference contrast with ordinary job. I can earn unlimited money by freelancing but by 9-to 5 job, only certain amount of money I means salary. Outsourcing is a freedom of job or work. But for regular job should be a boss. And need to follow him according to extreme advise. As a outsource contractor no limited work time or you can work as your convenient schedule. On the other hand, there should be a certain time frame and need to start office as 9 to 5. Boss will never consider your personal untold problem but if you freelancer, everything up to you.
So, last and final word, freelancer ever best for me

Yes I agree with you Ajlancer, in a job you are working away for someone else to make unlimited income. If you work for yourself you can decide how much you earn, you are building yourself up and not somebody else's company.

Yeah that's a very good point and very true too. You can spend half your life working a job for another company and while it's work, it's not the same as doing it for your own company because like you say, you're building up yourself and that has a lot more perks to it than working for someone else and not getting anything out of it other than your wages, hmm maybe a pension and dental lol. But that's why I like freelancing so much anyway, because you're doing it for yourself and that's what I like about SEOClerks as it helps you do that for yourself. Each new client, each new sale, that's slowly making you a bigger seller and more successful. We owe so much to SEOClerks for that! Freelancing is better than regular job or not ?

Yes Mike this is the bit that appeals to me the most. I remember last year when my husband was literally laughing at me, because of the amount of time I spent on my new websites with such a little income. I made my first $7 after about 5 months of solid non-stop work. But the point is not that it was only $7, the point for me is that it was my first $7 and that my websites are mine. They might be slow to start earning but I can do what I want with them and over time they will build up to have a steady stream of income. What I put in is what I get out, sure maybe not today but certainly long term.

Awesome Lynne! That certainly does just go to show that if you believe in something and stick at it, if you believe that it can work but needs that elbow grease put in first before it does, then you stick at it until it does. There are so many examples of things that people have given up on, that someone else stuck at and saw success from that. You reap what you sow! Freelancing is better than regular job or not ?

Lynne
Well Mike he isn't laughing anymore that's for sure. He is working crazy hours and doing a job he hates,,, and I am working half day from the comfort of our home doing things I love and then being mom. And yes I am now earning more than him...

And this he does not find amusing since he is the man of the house... he would never admit it but I think that stings a little for him.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

idealmike
Yeah! I can relate to him on that matter! Freelancing is better than regular job or not ? That's just the internal instinct that man has had since the stone age days when the woman would stay at home looking after the kids while the men would go out hunting for mammoths! So man has always felt like he should be the main bread winner for a household. Especially today in this still mainly male driven society. Maybe one day it will be different and woman will be the Alpha, men will stay at home with the kids but it's the woman that give birth and have that maternal instinct in them where as blokes mainly can't do that sort of stuff! Some anyway. Freelancing is better than regular job or not ?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Lynne
Oh yes Mike I can totally see it. He is lovely and supportive of me but I can sense this unhappiness in him.

He would love nothing more than to be home with the kids more, and I have told him that is what I am working towards but I don't think he would be able to do it! That is why I would love to earn lots of money and then start another business too, one that he can run on his own so he can earn more money for us.

This way I can finance the company initially but he will make it work Freelancing is better than regular job or not ?
Then I can just make some white lies and let think he earns more than me.

Hello hotcontent,
If you're satisfied with your work hours and your earnings online, then you're probably better off with being a freelancer. However, if you're struggling to make enough money to make a living, from month to month, then a regular 9-5 job might be a perfect solution.

A 9-5 job comes with less responsibility and a steady income. You'll get paid once (perhaps twice) per month and it's usually the same amount each and every month. Just by knowing that you'll have a steady income and a paycheck once or twice per month is a huge stress relief.

There's no right and wrong here actually. It all comes down to you at the end of the road. How satisfied are you? Why would you go with a regular job instead of being your own boss? These are questions you'll need to answer for yourself.

Best Regards,
hitmeasap

In theory: yes (unlimited potential of getting more money)!
In practice: usually not, else most people on the planet should be freelancers. Freelancing seems very much with a business and involve risks, but regular job offers a relative (financial) stability.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

idealmike
Yeah exactly, that's what I'm saying. It's good to have that financial stability and fixed income coming in. And there's no real guarantee of what you're doing as a freelancer lasting forever. Clients come and go, things change and you got to roll with those changes, make adaptions and evolve with them. That's what I like about SEOClerks because as long as there is the Internet people will always need SEO and Internet marketing and work outsourced. But on the flip side, there is the potential to earn a lot more money much quicker doing SEO and freelancing than there is being on a fixed income. Go for freelancing! Go for SEOClerks! That's what I say. Freelancing is better than regular job or not ?

Yes in the beginning when you are starting out freelancing or working for yourself it can be a lot riskier and for less income..., but I do believe that with time and hard work freelancing can be much better.

Yes, in reality you can earn a good income from freelancing. However it is not quite enough to make you leave your actual job. Freelancing is a great source of income, but it is not steady, in that there may be a time when you do not get orders, and so what can you do in that case? Maybe try to reduce prices to get more sales? Or just have to accept the lower income? It all depends on what income you feel is enough for you, and whether you need to sustain a family as well. Those factors matter.

I Would say yes to this question. Sometimes you spend more time than its worth on certain services, and competition can make it hard to earn a decent living. I think if you strive to be the best, and get your work done fast you can overcome the opposition. I make a decent living off of freelancing, but i also only work 6 hours a day sometimes less. If i was working a 9-5 i would be working 40 hours a week or more to pay bills. Freelancing allows me to be at home with my kids and still earn a living. Maybe a part time job but i would never go full time again.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Lynne
Well there are advantages and disadvantages of both. If you have a job you will probably work less hours, have a regular and reliable income and that stability is nice I suppose. Plus regular paid leave, sick leave and other types of leave such as when your kids are sick... that is nice.

If you freelance you will most likely work much harder and longer hours. It won't always be stable or regular income, especially in the beginning... but there are other huge benefits too such as being able to set your own working hours. Over time you can build up your customer base and have other online income too.

I don't think freelancing or working for yourself is for everyone, but I do think it is a better long term option.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

idealmike
Without a doubt, freelancing is better than working a 9-5 job simply because you're your own boss! Sure there's still deadlines to meet, and you will have to work a lot of hours sometimes more than you would doing a 9-5 job. Example, sometimes you are straight working on clients orders from 6AM to 6AM again. But the perks that come with it, despite the long working hour, far outweigh a 9-5. There's no being late, no boss breathing down your neck, no colleagues you don't have to put up with and nobody to tell you what you can wear. Plus you're either working from the comfort of your own home or your own office whichever, however you do your freelancing. Plus the money you can earn can be much better as well if you're getting new clients everyday or regularly which can equate to residual earnings. But of course, you're not on a fixed wage either which is fine and always good to have of course if you don't mind everything that goes with it, but when it comes to freelancing and making money online as an affiliate marketer, the sky is the limit! So there is no limit to how much you can earn. Freelancing is better than regular job or not ?

Being a freelancer is pretty amazing Freelancing is better than regular job or not ? But it wasn't always smiles and profits for me. It takes a lot of work to not have to answer to a boss and that's why most freelancers get burned out pretty quick. People get into freelancing thinking they can work 20 hours a week and make 100k a year, but in reality you'll be working 60+ to make 30k. This sounds insane because people in the US can get a job for 30k a year and work 40 hours a week. Working 60+ hours a week to make 30k is only appealing to those who want to strive for more. Now the 30k isn't guaranteed, hell you could work 100+ hours and not make anything Freelancing is better than regular job or not ? But the freelancers who are willing to work the 60+ hours will notice that in the end they'll be more happy because they put in the time and now the profits are coming in.

Some times freelancing has a tough learning curve depending on what your niche is. I'm in the SEO and Online Marketing niche and for the first 3 years when I was learning, I didn't profit Freelancing is better than regular job or not ? I didn't make $0 during my first 3 years, I did make some cash but I reinvested it into my websites and courses to learn more about the marketing aspect of websites. After the first 3 years I thought I was good enough to get out there on my own and start getting clients. I started making enough money to quit my job, but I didn't. I eventually got laid off so I then put in at least 12 hours a day to push my profits higher.

If you think you want to start working for yourself, try it out. Don't quit your day job though, you may not like the freelancing route because you're not guaranteed a check every 2 weeks. You most definitely can't slack off for a few days because that's money being taken out of your pocket Freelancing is better than regular job or not ?

MasterA
What do you mean by your regular job? Different people have different jobs and the answer will vary. In my opinion, the job that pays better in the short term and long term is better. Something you should bare in mind is the potential of your freelancing career profits. If you don't expect much increase in sales or revenue, then your regular career is probably better in the long term. If you are good at managing time, then doing both together will be best but that is hard work. I only advice you to quit your job and work as a freelancer full time if you may 1.3 times the amount you need to live on due to the uncertainty with sales.

I rather work for myself, and build up my own worth than to work for a multibillion dollar corperation and make someone else rich, who is already rich. I like to set my own schedule, and work when I want to, and how I want to. I want to be the one totally in control and you can not get this at a regular 9 to 5.

There's always someone above you, giving you orders, and in some cases yelling at you to get work done in a time frame that it simply can't be done in. I was once told I needed to complete an order of frozen food in less than 4 hours with over 350 pieces.. yeah right. That would never work.. it's stupid to even suggest me getting in done in that amount of time.. like seriously? LOL

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

EliteWriter
Yes Everett, you put it very well there. When you work as an employee you are basically getting a pittance generally and from my experience you a re not always given proper recognition. At least that was what happened to me in numerous jobs. To a certain extent I prefer working as a freelancer and earning a bit less than with a wage from a regular job, but benefiting from the freedom and independence freelancing offers. Besides there are less travel expenses and you can set your own schedule which is just awesome for me.

Which is better between freelancing and a regular job depends on a number of factors. One important factor to consider is which one pays you more. If you already have a high paying job, it will be more rewarding because it is difficult to build a stable income as a freelancer. Second important factor is whether you have regular clients or not. To succeed as a freelancer, you need to have a regular client.

I have a full time job in the office and to be honest with freelancing, my earnings can be considered just a drop in the bucket of my salary. But in fairness to my freelancing, I only do it part time However, based on my estimate, even if I go full time with freelancing, I wouldn’t earn even just 10% of what I am earning now. But don’t get me wrong because I am into freelancing for the fun of it and also for the potential occupation when I retire from my job.
