I am somehow confused here about this. please i want to know if adding a video to a gig service description helps to bring in traffic visitors, be it in social media marketing or on freelance sites or others ? I have some arguments with some SEO sellers and some argued that it helps while others said it doesn't bring in, stating that it depends on the way you write up your service gig description. OR generally speaking, do videos help in bringing in more traffic and sales and thus profit?
Please my fellow sellers and colleagues here, i need your responses.

Absolutely, a video is just a webpage like any other at the end of the day. Except it has moving pictures that talk too lol but seriously though, to get the most out of your video you have to make that video engaging, entertaining, informative and perhaps even a little controversial? It's good to be different! That's what makes your video unique to the rest if you're a bit controversial as well in them. It helps make them go viral easier. But you should add a good description too because that area is for explaining the video and being the printed word of your video so to speak and YouTube give you much space to add a lot of text there and links. But many people just don't take full advantage of the text area of YouTube fully. I get clients like that who don't seem to and it makes me wonder why they aren't because that area can be used to push your viewers into doing something and be as helpful to them as the video itself is. But yeah, making the video enticing and appealing is the first thing you need to do and then doing the same with the video description too. It plays a massive part in the success of that video over time and a video with a nice long description and stuff will have much more value and power to it in time than those that don't have anything other than just a link to some random site. I'll shutup now. :)

The text will be there for the users who prefer to read about a service and the video will be there for the lazy people like myself who would rather be told what everything is about on the page lol
A video gives someone options on how to learn about your service.
There are language barriers so sometimes when a person reads the description there can be some confusion, but when they watch a video on what your service is about, they could get a better understanding.
I don't sell on SeoClerks but I do notice an increase in sales when I have a video on my own websites. The time on site increases because all the person has to do is click the play button and let it run. They don't have to read an article that describes what the page or service is all about. I've also noticed that I myself will watch videos much more because I feel more engaged and I think I learn a little more because someone is basically holding my hand through the process lol :D
A problem with a lot of text in a service description is that people will tend to just skim over it and not really know what your service or product is about. People in todays world are lazy and want the easiest way out, so that's why a video is a really good alternative to text.
Now I'm not saying to remove all of the text from your service pages. I'm saying that you should have both, like a 1-2 combo in boxing :D The text will be there for the users who prefer to read about a service and the video will be there for the lazy people like myself who would rather be told what everything is about on the page lol :D

Yeah it's another way of taking in the information. When you have just the description that's fine if it's appealing and nice to read and that but it can be a lot to read and take in and to do that requires staring at the page and reading each sentence with your eyes. But with a video it has audio and you don't actually have to do anything to hear stuff, just listen. And it's easier and better to watch than read a sales page that has a lot of stuff on it. So it's another way of taking in that information that is easier for them. That's why [b]podcasts [/b]do so well for news sites and blogs etc. But the video can also have something different in it not shown on the page in and amongst the description or in images etc and explain things to the visitor/viewer in a different way and of course allows you to really connect with them much more as you've pointed out and let's you really appeal to them more with much more effect than just the description alone does or can do. But together they really do go hand in hand with each other and can really bring the page to life much more and help them connect to it too. Anything like that which people can interact with that makes them spend more time on the page and leads them into buying the service it's all about in the first place is a good thing! That's why most things you can buy online have a video about it of some sort whether it's an unboxing review a demo or a simple description of it or something. Videos work well it's not a secret anymore! :D
