    Please recommend a good voice clip recorder

    I need a really good (hopefully free) voice recording app that will record audio clips when I need to make notes about writing projects or to record random writing related ideas. I would want to use this on my desktop, not mobile. If you know of a really good Windows based voice clip recorder app for this, please let me know.

    Well you could use the built-in Windows Sound Recorder tool. Just open it, click the record button, say what you want to say then click stop recording and it will ask you where you want to save the WMA (Windows Media Audio) file to. You can then open this for playback in Windows Media Player or any software on your PC that can open and play WMA files anytime you want to listen to what you've recorded again.

    There's also some free online voice recorders too if you don't want to go this way. Some of the best ones are vocaroo.com or online-voice-recorder.com but they're both equally as easy to use. Please recommend a good voice clip recorder

    No problem you're welcome! The good thing about them is you can use your built in mic if you have one in your laptop/desktop PC or plug in a small mic and use that. You can get a wireless bluetooth one too. Probably only cost a couple bux but everything is better with bluetooth. Please recommend a good voice clip recorder

    Maybe I mentioned this before, but my laptop built in microphone has trouble picking up audio very well. For some reason, it sounds muffled and distorted. For awhile, I thought it wasn't possible to record sound on the laptop, as some had reported that Lenovo laptops have this issue with sound drivers. And then one day, I plugged in the new web cam and used that as the audio source and the audio recording quality (such as on videos) has been fine ever since.

    If you are running Windows , you can find it through start menu because any version of Windows OS has a voice clip recorder built in.Also they are very simple to use.

    If you record a clip, can you pause it and continue later where you left off? Sometimes, i like to take a second or two to recap my thoughts before continuing a recording. Not sure if there is a pause button.

    Yes, you can do that with it. So you can pause it for a while. If you click the blue question mark it opens the Help file for the Sound Recorder. It says "(Optional) If you want to pause and continue recording audio, click Cancel in the Save As dialog box when it opens, and then just click Resume Recording to Continue recording.

    When you're ready to save the file you can do so but canceling that save as dialog will basically pause the recording so you can continue by clicking Resume Recording again when you're ready.

    Thanks! I see it now! I tried this app a little earlier today when you first recommended it and had a string of really short audio clips. It's going to be very useful to just start where I left off.

    Yeah it does the job perfectly. You can also run it through some different online voice changers and synthesizers etc and modify your voice, slow it down, speed it up etc which can be useful if you're using it for voice overs for videos etc. Please recommend a good voice clip recorder

    The Windows Sound Recorder is easy to use and you can hear the recording pretty clearly. At least when I used it I was quite happy. Besides it is automatically included and you would not have to download or buy anything. If I understood you correctly you just need it to keep notes and so there is no need to go into a more complicated recorder.
