I grew up feeling inferior to my biggger sister who was often praised by my parents for her many musical talents. I never felt good enough and always had lowered self esteem.
Over time I came to the realization that I am a good person all by myself without comparison.
Also, I found out that I am a better writer than my sister. And, now I am praised by my parents and peers for my writing.
Now, my personal mantra that I chant to myself whenever I get criticism from others is or feel inferior is, "Let Jamilla, be Jamilla". And, really this means, accept yourself for who you are.
If you would like to use my mantra, you should swap out my name for your own.
It helps to remember that you are a truly unique person, no one else like you on the planet, never has been and never will be.
And, you have such unique gifts to share with the world and those around you.
