    Do you ever take on too much?

    Do you ever feel that you take on too much? It could be with work or your personal life or anything? Sometimes I feel that I do but yet I continue to keep doing it.

    Its very hard for me to say no to anybody asking me to do something. So I always end up taking up extra work. But I'm absolutely fine with it as long as I'm helping someone. Apart from that I usually try to keep myself busy and productive at all times. I do take regular breaks where I do nothing and just chill by myself so I don't get overloaded and stressed with the workload.

    Yes. Sometimes. I want to do as much as I can within the time frame that I have. Right now, I work as Freelance writer but I also take on extra work and projects by the side. So I end up working past midnight some days. But there are some days where I also have a lot of extra time on my hands.

    Yeah this is something I do all the time, and it is for very unhealthy reasons. I'm a person who tends to guilt trip himself all the time. If I'm not doing more work than I was doing yesterday, I start to feel like I'm getting lazy. It is hard for me to even give myself days off because I feel like I should be being productive. It is an issue with stability. I feel like the more work that I take on, the more stable I will be. It actually isn't true though. I realized I need a good balance of work and time off, or else all the money in the world isn't going to help when I burn out hard.

    Taking too much work is the problem for me but in life if you don't much.you might not succeed .like we all do no pain no gain.So instead of sitting idle and work or jobs are just staring you in the face.I think we rather do much than doing nothing and gaining nothing.

    I think I am having a lot of those days. I have had issues with the too much projects. And for this I am trying to build alternative source of income. I am getting into design and other projects. As you can see hopefully this helps with many of us in ways we can find it better. I wonder if its possible to detox from this feeling. I am sure this can be done by many in that case to keep the mind and body as calm as possible.

    I get what you mean completely. I freelance on the side a secondary source of income as well, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with the jobs I've scheduled. I shoot and edit video 40 hours a week at my full time job, then find myself going home most evenings and working on wedding videos, which really gets to be a drag.

    Recently I've gone back to school too, which doesn't help reduce the amount of stress I have already from all the things I'm doing. But we'll both forge onward as we have both done in the past, I'm sure!

    Yes that feeling of going on and on with the work on freelance project even after the day job. That is something I wish to automate. 40 hours a week are too much for me. So I am not sure how to change this part as of now. I am graduate but going for post graduate may not be an option for me. As post graduation jobs will keep me on desk too. So I have to find something that involves physical work.

    Totally understand what you mean. I'm going back for my post-graduate degree currently in the hopes of being able to either teach at a college level, or put myself ahead when it comes to job applications.

    I recently applied for a video-related job at a public university, and out of 50 applicants, I was one of 4 people chosen to interview. I didn't get the job, unfortunately, and I feel my time in graduate school will not only hone my skills and knowledge, but give me an edge on the competition next time.

    Yes in that case it's worth approaching. I have tried to get post graduate work. I also tried for the professors position. But it seems like the job is more desk job with technical skills. So I decided not to go for it. And for this reason alone I am working on other skills online and then going to divert the earning sources.

    Ever since I moved out to go to college and pave my own way, I've had the tendency to take on loads that are too much for me. I worked part time to pay bills while a full time university student and started working on my offline freelance business during that time as well. I found myself constantly doing something, be it work, school or freelancing, but it kept me busy during school.

    I graduated in December of 2016 and landed a full time marketing job, but I've found myself returning for my master's degree, still doing freelancing on the side, and now working on film projects with my filmmaking buddies in town. I work all day and generally have something going on every night after work and on the weekends too, which can get really, really hectic. I'm going out of town to party with some friends this weekend, so that'll be a nice change of pace from my hectic schedule the past couple months.

    I know that I still have lots to make happen which is the reason I don't feel that I'm taking too much of anything. I'm looking forward to days, weeks and months that I will look back and smile that I have done enough. For now, I'm yet to start.

    In fact I do, I take a lot and even more than I can handle. Sometimes I just do it, because I think I can perfectly manage it, but after a while when I notice I can't, that's when I feel the pressure. Some others, I know that is way too much, but I want to help someone else, or I want to show that I can very resourceful, but eventually it can fires back. No wonder why I feel so tired sometimes.

    I think it is just normal to feel that you are being overwhelmed by workload, problems, and other things that can make you feel bad. But we have to go on and my motto is that problems are given to us simply because we can solve it that we have the strength to overcome such. Just don’t let those elements bring you down albeit you should take it as a challenge that what cannot kill you can make you stronger.

    No, I don't take too much on. I know my limits. But I have had others put too much on me. I managed with the overload because fortunately, my husband provided a good support system.
