    How long do you keep a domain name?

    Most times, I keep a domain for two years before letting it go. The average cost is $20, which is not bad for the time allowed. Also, that gives me plenty of time to decide whether or not it's worth the investment.

    I've kept the domain name for my chat forum for at least two years. I'm hoping to keep the domain even if i sell the forum or shut it down.

    I don't sit on domains I don't think won't eventually sell... So it is always worth the investment of $10 per year to keep it on my books until further notice How long do you keep a domain name? Don't sit on crappy domains if ya don't have to ;)

    Same. I keep them 1 year and if I have done anything in 1 year, I extend.

    Sometimes I register domains for some unknown reason.. usually on impulse if I find a 'what I think' is nice domain.. and try to develop a project on it.. and then it fails.. so I simply delete it (if given the option) or don't renew. Sad story.. How long do you keep a domain name? But sometimes, my projects turn out nice and I sell them! How long do you keep a domain name? :rolleyes: Just a couple times though.. :|

    I rarely make a domain name purchase and usually only after careful consideration. And, then I will keep the domain name a long time, sometimes up to five years if the project is successful.
