    Write the reason you're deleting this FAQ

    Domain name character length

    I am wondering that what should be the length of domain name?
    Some one told me upto 9 characters is fine but I read somewhere that it can be 18 characters.

    These all confused me. I want to purchase a domain but before that I want make sure that how many characters are fine?

    Please reply if any one knows. This would me great help to me.

    I guess, it depend which way you looking at it. If you want to flip domains then shorter domains are better and worth more money, say 3 to 5 characters. If you building your own website then length of characters doesn't matter at all. You should have domain name related to your contents and it is recommended to have MEMORABLE domain name. Length of characters in that case doesn't make any difference. I have seen some very long domains and they are yet popular websites...

    The longest one I've ever seen was something like "watchfreemoviesonlinewithoutdownloading.com".

    I think someone was overcompensating for their SEO...lol

    If you need domain with your company name it is good to register something like mycompany dot com, but if you need keyword domain for example cheaphotelsbarcelona dot. com is good also. All depends what you want to achieve. Of course domains with small amount of characters are better for people, and if you talk via phone (strange names could be hard to understand).

    @kolala , I agree. over optimization is also not good..

    because what we do to improve the search engine visibility also should improve the human visibility. What I mean here is if you write a search engine friendly post, as far as it is not human friendly, I wont give much effect

    @webnesia I can't agree on that.

    This may be good for well recognised site like SEOclerks. Then people just used to it..

    But if you are thinking to get more search results with keywords, you should have a keywords too
    like "SEOclerks"

    if you search Cheap SEO services
    Then you will see google will highlight the keywod in domain too..
