Whenever I purchase a domain, I try to make sure that I can use it for multiple purposes including subdomains. So for instance, my main site might be mysite.com and then I'd put my blog on a subdomain such as myblog.mysite.com

It's a good idea. But I was wondering, does it help you save on bandwidth by having the video streaming on a different subdomain? Or, is there another reason to split up your site like this?

To addon on what beverly said, the amount of bandwidth consumed will be minimal if a user is seeing a video hosted on youtube on your site. As bulk of bandwidth is coming from youtube strea :)

Sometimes youtube ban or suspend a video, and when they do it and you are linking those video in your site then your site viewers can't view the video! That is one possible reason why people upload videos on there site :)
