How do you cancel a domain?

Is there a way to cancel a domain name if you decide you no longer need it?

Make sure you don't have the domain set up on auto renew and when the second year comes around, just don't pay for the domain. You won't get your money back for that first year, but then again you probably used the domain and just don't want it anymore.

If you are using Godaddy then you have option to delete your domain name, it is done when you feel that your domain name is trade mark domain name and you would get in trouble..

If you are not using godaddy or namespace, then I guess you will have to contact customer care personally by mail or phone to cancel your domains. Otherwise, you can just click on some links on godaddy or namespace to cancel/delete a domain.

If you don't want a domain, just don't renew it. When you don't renew the domain, it will no longer be yours. However, why don't you want that domain. You can always sell it and make money from it. If you are finding difficult to sell it or hold it, why don't you give it for free to others.
