What happens to a Youtube channel of the deceased?

On Facebook, there is a way to memorialize a Facebook account for someone who has passed on. Is this possible with Youtube, so that comments can't be added anymore? This would be necessary as the person is not there anymore to moderate and spam would build up, destroying their life's work in video.

I would assume the channel is left open. However, if you are the family member of the deceased person you need to contact Youtube and let them know what's going on so they can restrict access to the account. If you have access to the account, such as by the deceased person's computer with auto login, be sure to recover any private videos on the account before it's closed or those could be lost.
