The most important step is to create good and useful content.

Use reliable hosting.

Use descriptive title tags for each page of your web site.

Include <h1> and <h2> and heading tags containing your target keywords and phrases.

Place alt tags on all of your images because search engines cannot 'read' images or photos.

Create a sitemap.

Also, increase backlinks using guest bogging on relevant sites, web directory submissions, blog commenting, forum posting and social bookmarking.

If you mean by SEO is the search engine optimization then you have to start with writing good content. It is an article that is unique and not copied from another website and with sentences in your own words. It should also be relevant to the niche and, of course, needs to be well written with no spelling mistakes. When uploading the new content, don’t forget to tag it with meaningful keywords for the benefit of the search engines.
