Do not ever forget Google+. As far as my experience is concern it is a great way to get high position in the search.

Other thing is facebook fanpages and twitter.

I agree that social media is the most fertile place in the internet in terms of users and Google Plus is one good site in that league. However I still believe that Facebook is the most potent because Google Plus seems to be pale compared to Facebook and even Twitter. Nevertheless using social media for content sharing is a good suggestion that is common knowledge already.
