My take on SEO is fresh contents. When you upload fresh contents to your website on a regular basis, that is the best SEO for the day. Search engines are after the fresh contents because that is the indication that the website is current and not stagnant. But the fresh contents should be unique and not copied from another site or from any other source, not even inside your website. Copied contents will give your SEO capability a negative effect and your ranking in search engines will drastically go down.
