Some people say there is no gray hat, only white hat or black hat. Good or bad. Right or wrong.

No in between/middle ground.

Google would likely say that any action which goes against their TOS is blackhat, no gray area.

Really, it doesn't matter what color hat you want to call it. If Google thinks you are doing something they don't approve of, they will penalize or ban you, sometimes without reprieve.

You have to decide if you are willing to take that risk.

I think I agree with those people who said that SEO is either good or bad. Those white hat and grey hat and black hat are just labels that were invented by creative people. They just add to the confusion for beginners. I have to admit that I was avoiding discussions about those black hat, white hat and grey hat because it fills my mind to the brim when in fact it is just a matter of discerning if the method is good or bad SEO.

Gray Hat SEO --The middle-ground philosophy between Black Hat and White Hat SEO techniques.Gray Hat SEO pushes more than White Hat SEO, but not to the point where your website will get banned (in most cases) like you often find with Black Hat SEO. Regardless, you still need to be cautious of the employed tactics because they may still venture into Black Hat SEO territory and result in search engine penalties.

There is NO Gray Hat SEO. This is something in the MIDDLE of White and Black hat... One STRONG advice: Always play without breaking the rules (follow only White Hat SEO!)
