How do you do SEO for a forum?

Use tags/keywords when creating a new thread. Often, the forum software, will let you list these. Also, use keywords in forum post titles. Use keywords in meta tags/alt images (if allowed).

Please share other tips for forum SEO.

if you are using forum software, then you can do edit in the admin control panel..... you can add meta tags and other coding easily.
some forum software provides user friendly interface , so even a person without a slight knowledge can do it.
try free forum software like mybb and phpbb......... you can set them up easily and ready made themes are available, and if you know coding you can edit them to what you want.
Success of a forum depends on content, so make sure you post good stuff.

Maybe that’s the reason why some forums have the tags or keywords that I usually ignore. But there is one forum that requires the tag because it will flag an error when the tag is empty. It’s only recently that I have understood what those tags are for. And I didn’t know that those tags are the keywords we were talking about in some discussions. I guess if all new threads have at least 3 tags then that will be a big plus for the forum in terms of SEO capability.
