Drip feed backlinking is a term that I hear a lot on SEO forums. Can someone explain how this works?

Drip feed is slowly done, over time. Going slow prevents a huge number of backlinks showing up at once which can alert Google.

it depends on the age of the domain. for a site of less than 6 months old 50 per day is safe and for a site more than 6 months old 100 per day is safe.
