Do you look for author's with credentials/titles?

When researching online it might be useful to consult the author's credentials or titles to see if they are actually trained to write about the subject in question. For instance, a current professor of Law at Harvard will have many titles behind his name and his opinion on legal matters is more likely to be credible versus someone who simply researched some issues online for an article. This would be one very good thing to look for when researching to verify the author's credibility.

Checking an author's credentials is always a smart move as it allows you to ensure the person has the education/training to write about the subject in question. Taking advice from just anyone online can be risky and cause holes in your research and writing.

If I were looking for a medical or health diagnosis, I would demand a doctor's opinion in real life. And, when searching online, I expect to get advice from real doctor's too, not just health bloggers who know how to research.

I'm surprised at online books, how they never quote authority figures yet offline books always do. I put very little trust into an ebook for that reason as it might have just been published by someone without any credibility.

I do really especially on health matters because health has to do with ones life.

Anytime I come across things to be used for the body in which an author opined that it will work for a certain thing I first look at the person's credentials before trying to apply it.

From a legal point of view, you could get in trouble for dispensing wrong medical advice, especially if someone relied on it to their own detriment. So for that reason, have a disclaimer on your site and only quote reputable medical sources, if that's what you are writing about.

Some of your best source material for articles will come from various university professors who have published authoritative papers online. Look for these pages by restricting your search to .edu domains and include your chosen keywords to find information on your subject. Be sure to properly quote your sources.

This is quite true especially for those writing for academic purposes for those lecturers that would review and award marks for what is writing. So, I think he also checks the referencing side of the research to be sure that such researchers were done by looking up things written by notable authors in such academic discipline as well.
