He's charging $1.00, so why aren't you?

This is my frustration, when potential customers try to manipulate and use other people's services or listings as a bargaining chip to get me to lower my prices.

The other day, a potential client sent me a message asking why I wasn't willing to write an article for $1.00, quoting some source he found online where he got 100% proof read and literate sounding articles for that same price. And, of course, I told him to go back to that source and stock up. To me, it's not worth knocking myself out just to compete with someone who is not willing to pay more than $1.00 for something which would go for 100 times that in an offline market. I have other things to be doing with my time.

Chances are, that other source he was talking about was imaginary or at best, a seller ripping off articles from a blog. And, where will that get the person who buys those $1.00 articles? I'm not going to compete like that.

I agree that others may be able to do it for less but they make not be making money off it. Or maybe their service is not as high of quality as what you are offering.

Buyers are the most cunny people on earth,it can be an imaginary seller as you just written.This is the usual ploy or antics employed by most buyers to bargain or haggle low.

The best bet is if you know your worth and you want to keep high standard never you bother yourself with them.

I'm not really interested in competing with anyone on price, especially when they are offering deeply discounted or cut rate services as I always know they are likely using spun written content in order to automate the process. I don't use software or spun content. And, all my work is original. So I have to charge the prices which reflect the time it takes to create original, well researched content, whether forum posts or articles.

I don't use software or spun content. And, all my work is original. So I have to charge the prices which reflect the time it takes to create original, well researched content, whether forum posts or articles.

Charge what your services are worth, not what someone will pay for them or you will spend your life working for pennies. That's especially true if you have a proven track record of writing success and other customers who can vouch for your quality.

I would ask for some kind of proof that another seller is offering an identical service for such as cheap price. He might just be saying these things to get a reaction. And, even if he showed proof, I would still not cut my price.

Let him worry about his own finances and charge a dollar if he wants and you worry about your own situation. You can't possibly compete with every one dollar service if your service and time are worth $10 or $100 so don't try.

That's not saying you couldn't charge a dollar for something, just don't charge a dollar for what he's offering. That way you can still get those cheap clients and offer something of value without directly competing or cutting yourself off from money you could earn.

And, you could spend your entire life working long hours for that one dollar or spend a little time working for $25. The choice as to how much you want to be paid is up to you.

Just because some do it for a cheap price does not mean that it is right. They may be charging a cheaper price just to get on the map and then will raise it later.

That is a very common technique and it works sometimes but mostly when you raise your prices to the higher level, those cheap skates that enjoyed taking advantage of your hard work at the cheap prices will go to another cheap seller rather than staying with you.

Writers have their own prices depending on their capabilities. You are right in telling that potential client to hire that $1 writer which I think is just a ploy to strengthen his bargaining. Some people have a knack for haggling. We should not succumb to such outrageously low offer as it demeans our reputation.
