    Because so many affiliates were dropping their affiliate link on Twitter that it became spam eventually. Facebook as well.

    Not just a few people exploited Twitter with SEOClerks link and now no one can get away with it and that's how it is for most sites. You just get your own site and direct links to that domain instead.
