    How long did it take you to achieve freelance success?

    How many months or years did it take for you to achieve your freelance success? What type of jobs did you try out before you found the one niche that made you a success?

    I'm not what you call a freelancer success. I like making Youtube videos and hope to be a Youtube star and earn money that way. I like blogging too.

    I started freelancing online in 2006 at RentaCoder, a once lively freelance portal for programmers, writers, artists -- you name it. I can't remember how long it took me to be "successful," but I'll tell you I was thrilled after getting paid for the first time. If that's successful, then it only took two weeks, largely because that's when freelancers got paid. ;)

    More "success" came after my work got some pretty fantastic feedback. And then even more after I got certified in a few key skills.

    Don’t be surprised if I tell you that I felt success after freelancing for 6 months. That was the time that I earned my first $5. It was a great feeling. My intention in freelancing was just to improve my written English but it so happened that I had joined a site that pays for posting. That first earnings gave me enough motivation to continue even if I feel that my English is already okay. Until now, after more than 3 years, I still enjoy freelancing despite the meager amount that I am earning.
