    How much do you charge per word?

    As a freelance writer, how much money per word do you charge? For instance, if someone wanted to buy an article from you or a blog post, what would you be charging per word?

    I don't really charge per word, as I would rather quote them a price based on the amount of time and effort needed to provide them with great content. If the topic is general or if it's a sales pitch, I may not charge as much, whereas if it's about something I need to research and it has to be lengthy, then I would charge a bit more for my time.

    I usually just do a price for up to so many words. that way I don't have to worry about the pricing, I know that I am getting before I have the work done.

    Even when you price for an article, you are still earning only a certain amount per word. So if you charge $10 for 1000 words, you get paid one penny per word. For a $20 article for 100o words, that is 2 cents per word. Even if you don't say what your price per word is, it still applies.

    Good point Deann. I tend to be on the cheaper side, I usually will write for one to two cents per word because I just like to write.

    Most online writers charge per article, not per word. But, you are still getting paid per word.

    If you write 1000 words for $20, then you are being paid 2 cents per word. That is about one fifth what a professional writer would be paid offline.

    I really haven't thought about it because all the whenever o charge a client a certain amount, I tend to get only half of it. So I just ask him, how much would he be willing to pay. In that way whatever the amount he declares would be good enough. Blogging is better and it's way easier to earn more from it. More so if it's a blog about promotions. I usually receive $10-50 when I'm doing promotionsl blogs, that's about 3 write-ups/promo articles/social media posts that is shared to about 50 groups.
