Write the reason you're deleting this FAQ
I have compiled some questions that I am wondering how every other freelancer on here deals with them. Some are basic questions and others are ones that will require thought. Please take the time to answer them for me so I can get a better feeling for freelancing. I am writing these questions without having SEOclerks in mind.
1. What happens if I do the work and do not get paid? Say I write an article for a client and he does not pay me. How do you handle this?
2. How much do you charge? Do you like to charge per word?
3. How do you deal with those that say freelancing is not a job?
4. Have you ever been paid a flat rate before or do you like being paid hourly?
5. Do you feel that freelancing is the best job that you have ever acquired?
Like I have stated, I was not talking about SEOclerks, because I know that you will get paid there for the work that you have done. I am just meaning all over clients that you have.

Not really much you can do, assuming you are working on your own. The only way to maybe prevent the situation is by keeping control of any accounts you worked on (such as holding the password of the accounts to yourself) until after payment.

I don't charge per word for writing. But, it's not a bad idea. Though I suspect my rates would triple if I did.

I don't listen to negative people. Freelancing is a job. And, freelancers are more likely to work 12 hour days than an average employee. Except there is no over time pay. The job ends when you are actually finished, not when it's 5pm.

At one time, I did a real world job for hourly pay and it was the hardest, most grueling work. I would never do that again unless I really had to.

I was co-owner of a local services business for many years and the money was really amazing, at least when we could get customers. Then, the economy went bad. That's when I was thankful for my freelance skills. I have been able to use many of the skills I had already with writing, (and was using, just not being paid for), to earn money for expenses and luxuries. I really feel like I'm contributing very well to my family with my freelance work. So, I don't mind working as much as needed. 1. What happens if I do the work and do not get paid?
