What if all your moderators quit at the same time?

This is just a hypothetical situation, but let's say all your moderators quit around the same time (such as in the same week) over some forum dispute. Would you be able to replace the moderators or staff members very quickly? Do you think you would feel overwhelmed?

If you have a lot of spam on your forum anyway, then it would be very overwhelming. I don't think something like this would ever happen, but an admin or forum owner could easily manage if they recruited replacement moderators from the existing forum community.

You would just have to go out and hire someone else that same day. And it rarely happens. Though there was a situation where I had two of my moderators just choose not to show up during a spam attack. They were not on staff for many days after that.

I have a few back up people that I could ask to step into the position temporarily if that ever happened. Though I don't really see why everyone would want to quit at the same time.

For forums with many active posters, it's more likely that they have several moderators. And when all moderators leave, I guess the work will be daunting that you would be overwhelmed by the piling up of spam posts. In that case, it is best to seek help from other forums, to lend you one or 2 mods temporarily just to tide you over.
