Are SMF forums too laggy?

On many SMF forums that I visit, I get extreme lag. Do you think the lagging is caused by the SMF software or plug ins? I don't get this kind of lag on Xenforo or MyBB forums.

I haven't noticed an issue with any of my SMF forums. It could be a hosting issue, especially regarding "extreme" lag.

SMF forums are full of bugs and security holes. My last SMF forum was hacked and the databases lost, since then I won't use the software.

I was going to suggest how maybe your own computer is lagging but since you don't get this issue with Xenforo, then it's possibly the SMF forum's fault. If you can't find a way to solve the issue, then you just might have to avoid those forums.
