    Do you have any tips on how to become a big board, or a forum that has hundreds of thousands of real, active members and millions of active posts?

    You could buy several smaller forums and merge those with your forum. That could give you thousands of new discussions/posts instantly.

    Just keep recruiting! That's the secret of becoming a big board forum. There's nothing more you can do but get new members all the time and ensure those people stay active, rather than going inactive. In most situations, spam accounts don't count toward being a big board, so delete those spam accounts as much as possible.

    My best guess is how many thousands of the 'current' members on big boards are just bot accounts. There is no actual requirement for the forum to prove each account belongs to an actively posting member.

    Ask your members to recruit. Host a recruitment drive or contest. Make it known you want new members. You can't be subtle about this online. Everyone must know they are welcome to your site.

    The success of a forum is the result of good planning, business strategy and hard work on the part of the owner and staff. Upon launching, marketing the forum is usually the passionate job of everyone, from the owner, admin and other staff members. Slowly but surely, the forum will be getting new members and activity will grow. If that passionate work continues and never ceases then that is one formula for success. Think of a forum that has been around for 1 year and the staff are still toiling with the marketing. New members will keep coming, right?
