    Guests vs Bots

    When you look at the number of guests online at a forum, how do you know which ones are reading the threads and which are just bots coming in from search engines?

    Most forums have at least 100 bots on it at all time. This could be a good thing, especially if one of those bots belongs to Google as it means your site is being actively indexed at all times of the day and night.

    Many times, you will get a quick influx of traffic via bots from Twitter when you update with a tweet. These are not real visitors though.

    Does every bot that visits your site have a recognizable name? Or, are they just identified as 'bots' in your stats?
