    How indepth do you make your forum posts?

    When answering a technical question on a forum, I always do research on Google. Even a quick search will usually turn up an answer. And, even if the post is not very long, the answer is sufficient to help the member out. How indepth do you like to make your forum posts? Such as do you always perform a Google search to fact check?

    Your right Beverly, the forum is for helping people so you definitely need to know what your talking about if you answer a question for someone. It's part of being part of a community of people like we have here.

    Providing accurate answers to questions on your forum will also make your forum more popular with Google. This is especially true since the Hummingbird update which favors answers to questions or sites which follow the question/answer format.

    The only way to establish yourself as an expert that people will trust is to provide these in depth answers to questions. Otherwise you are just scratching at the surface and providing no more information than a beginner and why should anyone listen to you then?

    I sometimes encounter a very long explanation as a reply to a thread with a question. Doing that will deprive your forum of the opportunity for others to pitch in. When the subject matter is covered in its entirety with your reply, what more is there to say? Perhaps I will just read your detailed reply and learn something for sure. But to expect me to post a reply, hmm, that may give me a hard time to think of what to say.
