    How do you encourage participation by both male and female members?

    Some forum niches might seem more suitable for either males or females. For instance, a beauty forum might seem more like something that would attract female members. However, every forum can benefit from a balanced point of view with both male/female conversations. How do you encourage male and female members to talk freely on your niche forum, especially if it's a niche that would not usually appeal to one gender?

    Maybe you could create polls based on male vs female points of view on your subject matter and then ask guys to respond and contradict what the females are saying about the subject or vice versa. That way you can stir up a little controversy and get more posts. People love to argue on a forum.

    This might actually work as well. Polls tend to have a way of getting most people to air their views on something without feeling much stress with intensive writing.

    Every forum has its rules and regulations section, if you make it a thing to include there that the forum is both for male and female participants who are willing to join are welcome to join, I definitely believe that it would spur most opposite male sex to join the forum as well.

    If the topic on hand tilted toward a particular gender, I broaden it a bit to accommodate both genders, I don't think there's anything now that both genders can't really relate to, no matter how silly it may sound.When one is writing about a topic, it pertinent to think about both gender so that one gender wouldn't be left hanging.

    If the niche is for women only then I guess it would be difficult to gather men and to make them post. But for a niche that has inclination to female like weight reduction then I’m sure that is not an exclusive dominion of women. We have that kind of group in Facebook and it is noticeable that majority of active members are women. If I am the admin and I want to activate the brains of the male members to react, I would probably create a topic about them. That is one sure way of making the men to speak.
