    Dissable mobile view of a website

    Hi guys
    I have been having a great challenge disabling my WordPress site mobile view.
    I have tried to remove the viewport option but that "kills" the whole site. Can i get a better way of completely remove the mobile settings when i load on a mobile device?
    maybe delete the mobile theme settings?

    I think this is a theme dependent thing. Some WP themes have mobile responsiveness built into them. So removing the viewport tag from the header.php or something isn't really going to do it and as you've said, doing so "kills the whole site". What you'd need to do is find a theme that isn't mobile friendly (responsive). But nobody really makes themes like that anymore because being mobile friendly is so important. Considering most searchers and website traffic today is from mobile searchers, it's important to make your site mobile friendly for them. Also, whether your site is mobile friendly or not is also a ranking factor too. So by removing responsiveness you're likely to loose a little rank from that.

This makes me think that you're using some mobile plugin perhaps that controls which theme is shown to mobile users over desktop users. And if that is the case, then it would be down to the settings of that plugin, or in the case of the theme being responsive, you would need to install a different theme. You also said "maybe delete the mobile theme settings?" which backs up my thinking that you are using a theme that has responsiveness built into it. I would suggest that you check your themes install and setup and usage instructions or perhaps send a message to the theme dev as without knowing your site and the theme or plugins you're using, this is all purely guesswork!

    Hi lancerfree I do not understand why do you like to disable mobile view for your website? Where search engine very much appreciate Mobile viewable website or micro format website. Beside ?Microformat may be a markup that is accustomed structure the data that is being sent to search engines a lot of effectively. The presentation of Google is search results is always rising owing to Microformats. And look into the anwebservice replay and tell us here more clearly which CMS are you using? It is depend on platform. If you use wordprees there has some ways to off the mobile view. My suggestion do not do it if not very necessary.

    That’s also my question – why remove the responsiveness of the site? I wonder if there is something behind the mobile view as if you don’t want mobile browsers to be able to view your website. It is really a puzzle because webmasters are in a scramble to enhance their site’s design to be responsive due to the growing number of mobile browsers. When there are more users then there are more traffic. Do you mean to say you don’t want traffic coming from mobile browsers?

    OMG i missed that details that's WordPress. Sorry! Well out there is some themes which have option to switch off responsiveness in it's theme admin panels. But i am guessing he is using some kind of plugin for it too, so we still need more details to conclude what's best option for him

    Which CMS platform you use for your website? WordPress or something else? It could be done in few different ways, but not sure why you need that when everybody running for it

    I don't know why would anyone want to do that. If you do want to do that then just make changes to the CSS which offers the responsive content. This way you can easily get rid of the mobile view of the website. I have seen some people doing this and managed to get rid of the mobile view of the website. I guess it all comes to how the code of the framework of the bootstrap and the foundation is being used.

    The first thing to solve your problem is knowing the plugin name which you installed on your site.
    From there, we can get started reviews about the plugin you used and can remove it completely.

    I don't just you want to get your mobile view off or out when a lot of people are even looking out for a responsive mobile view to .make their site .mobile friendly.

    I think it a plugin thing, so just check your theme template to get the plugin off and you'll be good to be.

    I don't know why you would want to do this, but on a responsive theme, that is likely controlled in the stylesheets. You would have to edit out all reference to devices less than 600px.

    An interesting question that has everybody wondering the same thing.

    Why would you want to disable mobile view of your site when Google made it perfectly clear that sites that are mobile-friendly will have a preference? (O.o)

    • Google has also announced that website search positions will be partly based on mobile friendliness, which means non-mobile friendly websites will start to rank lower in the search engines and mobile friendly websites will rank higher.
