    Is it possible to convert Joomla to Wordpress?

    I need an established website that was created in Joomla converted to Wordpress. Is that possible? How much would that cost (is it even cost effective)?

    It's definitely possible, and cost affective, to convert Joomla to wordrpess.

    Don't bother paying a programmer because he will just install a plugin and go through the step by step process of converting your joomla site to a wordpress site. It's actually pretty simple with the plugins that wordpress provides. It's actually a pretty smart thing to offer since they can pull people from joomla and keep them on wordpress since it's a much more loved platform for a website or blog Is it possible to convert Joomla to Wordpress?

    On wordpress.org I searched for "convert joomla to wordpress" and I found a few plugins that were just ok. But there was one plugin that topped the leader board in terms of five star reviews and the amount of installs. It currently has over 10,000 installs and a five star rating. I'd say that's a pretty good plugin since everyone that uses it is in love with it lol.

    When you add this plugin you can begin the transfer from Joomla to Wordpress pretty easily. One of the best features about the fg joomla to wordrpress plugin is that it can work with really big databases. Their page says they've worked on databases with over 72,000 posts, how big is your database? You can pretty much convert anything from your joomla website over to a wordpress website in time. I'm sure there will be a few bumps in the road because not everything is perfect in todays world. But this plugin will definitely help increase the speed of your transfer and reduce your stress Is it possible to convert Joomla to Wordpress?

    Yes it's completely possible and you can do it yourself for free. You wont even need many IT/technical skills. You can hire someone to do it for you too, but that can take time and you'll have to find someone and what not. Here I will walk you through the process of converting your Joomla site to WordPress.

    Converting Joomla to WordPress

    Many people use Joomla websites, it's a great platform but it's not ideal for all people. You may have been using Joomla and heard about the power of WordPress and how easy it is to use and want to make good use of all the themes and plugins that are available for it. Fortunately, its rather straight forward to migrate from Joomla to WordPress using WordPress itself and here's how you do it.

    So first things first, you'll need to have your own web hosting and install WordPress to the directory where you want to have your site on/in. After you've installed WordPress, login to the Admin dashboard and then you'll need to install a plugin called "FG Joomla to WordPress". After it's installed, activate it. Then go to Tools > Import in the sidebar and you'll see a list of import tools you can use.

    Click on the Joomla FG one. This will take you to the Joomla Importer for WordPress page. Here you'll need to put your current Joomla website address and database details.

    Now you have reached the Joomla Importer for WordPress page. On this page, you need to provide your Joomla website and database information. You will now need to put your Joomla sites database details here. You can get that from your Joomla Admin area in Global Config > Server tab and it will show you what the database name etc is. Put those details in the fields. It's also available in the configuration.php file in your Joomla sites root directory. Connect to it by FTP and use a text editor like notepad to open it.

    Before doing the import, first click "Test the database connection" to make sure the details are correct and it can connect to it.

    Then scroll down to where it says "Behavior" and here you can choose to import all your Joomla sites media files like images etc. Make sure you tick the "Force Media Import" checkbox. You can leave the other settings as they are and it will import them or you may choose not to or some different setting.

    Then just click on the "Start/Resume the Import" button and it will do its thing. It may take a short while depending on how big your Joomla site is, how many posts/images etc it has to import but just wait until it's fully completed. After it's completed the importing, you may need to fix any broken internal links. If you scroll down to the import page you can click on the "Modify Internal Links" button. This will let you manually fix any broken internal links such as links to your internal pages etc so they're all working correctly.

    Some Important Things to Note
    • If you get any database connection errors, double check your database details are correct such as the login details.
    • Depending on how much memory is allocated to your WordPress site, you may get an error message saying something like "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of **** bytes exhausted". To fix that you just need to increase the WordPress memory amount in WP-Config file.
    • You may run into issues when importing media if your host has disabled the allow_url_fopen directive in php.ini. You'll need to get them to enable this for you and then try the import again.

    Other than that, provided none of these things were issues, you would have now successfully migrated your site from Joomla to WP. Is it possible to convert Joomla to Wordpress?

    Yes indeed it is possible. As explained earlier you can use plugins in WordPress to import data from joomla to wordpress. But you have to make sure that you have read the process. Because not following the process may lead to corruption of joomla data. Make sure to backup everything. You can also export MySQL data. And that way you can easily get the most out of data.

    The best and fastest way a to convert Joomla to Wordpress is using a plugin like FG Joomla to WordPress.
    If you don't like use a plugin, you need to write a custom script which allows you to import parts of Joomla site to WP. Is it possible to convert Joomla to Wordpress?

    I think based on my experience. Plugins make things a lot easier. And there seems to be no need to use the script. So I guess people should make use of the plugins. And there seems to be around few out there from what I have seen.

    I just had to research and I found it quite possible, you could do it yourself by following the processes needed to convert to WordPress or contact a programmer which I believe could be the best unless you aren't a novice like me.

    Just study how it been done with joomla plugins and you will good to go.
