Is it important to evaluate what your competitors are doing online?

There are hundreds or thousands of sellers just like you, and they are all, or the vast majority of them, work hard to attain a top position. Considering this, it is as if you are all running to get a trophy, so to speak, like athletes. In order to gain a competitive advantage, do you feel it is important and ethical to keep an eye on what your competitors are doing? I think that it is a helpful way to get new ideas and see areas where you need to improve. It can also help you validate your keyword choices.

Yes of course! Especially as a new website that is trying to get ahead or get a solid foothold in his/her industry. As you have pointed out, it is an excellent way to come up with new ideas and inspiration for your own sites content. Seeing what they are doing, how they are doing it, what they are writing about can help you in this way. Actually, most sites do this, a lot of stuff you read on sites has been rehashed from another site in some way by someone who has done that very same thing. I wouldn't say it was "unethical" to do that. But keeping your eye on your competitors can help you to stay ahead. Perhaps they have posted something to their site you know a lot about and then read it and think, I know more about this and actually, you failed to omit some things that would have been of more value to their readers. This is your chance to shine in that area by creating your own version of that content in your own way, with your own unique twist and adding the valuable things to it that the other article missed out. Besides you've probably heard it said before "Keep your friends close - keep your enemies closer!". They are words to live by! And that applies in real life, and when it comes to your competitors as well IMHO.

Thanks for nice question. An identifying your rival is extremely importance before finalize any decision. it's prime issue to success of a brand new or existing business. If you'll be able to understand or judge properly to your rival, your business might scale back risk and time. Yes, I do observing rival frequently. and try to distinguishing them by most importance ways that like below.

I am making an attempt to find out some importance queries. example:
Who are your competitors?
What are your competitors' strengths and weaknesses?
What are your competitors planning to do next?
Hope these queries can facilitate to looking trend of rival business.

Yes, whether you are a freelancer or webmaster, it is always important to evaluate what your competitor is doing. This is because they are the people you are trying to beat in order to become more successful than them. It is important to learn useful techniques that your competitors are using and make it your own technique. It is definitely not unethical as your competitors is probably doing the same to you. For example, when measuring my SEO improvements, I always compare my SERP with my competitors. This helps me get a very good idea of how much more work I need to do before I can beat them on rankings.

Yes is my answer but it depends on the kind of competitors. I will be focusing on the successful competitors like in the ranking, I would check the number 1 up to number 5 maybe. And the competitors lower than my website can be ignored. But I will not copy what my competitors are doing. I will study why they are successful and think of a way to do it in another way. For me, copying is not a good way to do business.
